About Us

​​​​​​The Genuine Article formed in 2022 out of a mutual passion for soulful vocal harmony. Our duo features Matt Barnett, an accomplished singer and guitarist with extensive experience performing throughout Hawaii and Santa Barbara, and Kathy Kamath, a singer songwriter, who holds a BA in music from UCSB and has been singing professionally in Santa Barbara for over 20 years. Our extensive playlist covers 7 decades of Classic, Folk, Grunge and Motown tunes that are popular with audiences of all ages.

 

Through our intricate vocal and acoustic guitar arrangements, we strive to create musical experiences that inspire people to sing, dance and connect. We never work off a static set list and each show is tailored to the crowd and venue.
