The Genuine Article formed in 2022 out of a mutual passion for soulful vocal harmony. Our duo features Kathy Kamath who holds a BA in music from UCSB and has performed professionally in Santa Barbara for over 20 years, and Matt Barnett, an accomplished singer and guitarist with extensive experience performing throughout Hawaii and Santa Barbara. Through our intricate vocal and guitar arrangements, we strive to create musical experiences that inspire people to sing, dance and connect.
Our repertoire includes an eclectic mix of over 250 folk and classic rock, pop, RnB and speakeasy tunes from the last seven decades ranging from Joni Mitchell, and Fleetwood Mac to Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Adele and Dave Mathews. We also write and perform original work and take pride in tailoring our sets to match the specific venue and audience.
